  • Bio: Greetings. Dave Downs here. I'm a songwriter and performer out of Middletown, Connecticut, looking to get my little songs into film, tv & video projects. A few local filmmakers here in Connecticut are currently using my music. (Go to vimeo.com/4562775 to hear my song, "Nighttime Descending," on the trailer of Nick Scalia's short comedy, "SNOOZE.") 'Nouveau Croon' is the name I give my musical style, because it blends the early jazz/pop influences I heard as a kid on my father's records, with modern acoustic rock sensibilities. For what it's worth, a couple songs have made it to finalist and semifinalist in international songwriting competitions. I'm a big fan of home recording. My youngest son, Dugan's art work shows up on most of my album covers. In live performance I accompany myself on guitar and focus primarily on old American standards from the 40's, 50's, 60's & beyond, tossing originals into the mix here and there.
